Because none of the candidates for Mayor of Kearny received a majority of votes (one vote over 50%) there will be a runoff election between Debra Sommers and incumbent Mayor Sam Hosler on November 8, according to Kearny Town Clerk Cathy Woolery.

During the Aug. 30 election, Sommers received 249 votes while Hosler received 220 votes. But because Bobby Brisbin secured 46 votes, Sommers received only 49.9% of the vote, necessitating a runoff with Hosler.

Whoever wins in November will be seated at the December Town Council meeting.
