Judith B. Pomerantz

Judith B. Pomerantz passed away on June 9, 2021 at her home in Tucson, Arizona after battling ovarian cancer for three years. Born Judith Ann Brown, October 2, 1945, US Naval Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia. Daughter of John Brown and Dorothy Faber Brown. Raised in Miami, Oklahoma and Iowa City, Iowa, the oldest of brothers Steven and Roger and sister Margaret.

Judith married Barry Pomerantz of Spring Valley, NY on March 22, 1970 in Denver, Colorado. She is the mother of Jason (1973) and Todd (1975).

Judith supported her husband starting a cardiology practice servicing Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. She also served as President of Boy Scout Troop 25, Suffern, NY in the 1980s and is a founding member of the Medical and Dental Women’s Group in Suffern, NY supporting families in the medical community in West Rockland County.

Known for her quick wit, complex sense of humor and expansive factual knowledge of almost every subject, Judith enjoyed deep-rooted friendships of all she was acquainted with. She served as the social hub of a diverse group of women in the Tucson area who knit together and support each other through good times and challenging times. She was especially enamored with her daughters-in-law, Colleen and Jaimie.

Judith is survived by her husband of 51 years, Barry, her two children, Jason and Todd, daughters-in-law Colleen and Jaimie, brothers Steven and Roger and grandchildren Katherine, Samantha, Charles, Violet and Ned.

Family members and friends attended a private ceremony on June 10, 2021. Those desiring to show respect are asked to send a donation to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, 2021 N. Kinney Rd., Tucson AZ 85743.
