Ray Bearcats Parent Teacher Organization (Ray PTO), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the educational experience of students and staff, is actively seeking new board members. There are many chairs that need to be filled. The main chairs that need to be filled are:• President, aka: the leader of the pack. To fill this chair you must be a creative problem solver, comfortable delegating, able to keep Ray PTO focused on the current agenda. A sense of humor is hoped for. A good tempered person who can say “No,” without provoking a tantrum is even better. You will train with the current PTO President, starting as soon as possible, to be ready to take the lead in the 2021-2022 school year.
• Vice President, aka: the President’s sidekick. This position requires a person who can take a lead role in planning and coordinating activities and events. Plus, helping the President to get things done.
• Treasurer, aka: number cruncher. Ray PTO has big plans to raise money and fund important projects for the school. As treasurer, you would count every penny. Someone who loves to categorize expenses and create color-coded pie charts would be ideal.
• Recording Secretary, aka: meeting minutes pro. This chair is best filled by someone who is skilled in records keeping, able to pay attention to the details and loves to document everything. Good listening and computer skills are musts.
• Communication Secretary, aka: the media genius. To fill this chair, Ray PTO is seeking a real people person, who loves to chat in person or online. Your role will be to make sure Ray PTO social media sites are up to date and that flyers are being communicated throughout the community. Experience in making flyers and formal letters would be ideal. The ability to communicate with school staff, often, is a must.

Other chairs that are needed to be filled do not play as crucial a role for day-to-day operations of Ray PTO, but are still needed to be filled to help things run smoothly inside this organization and, especially, for students and staff to be able to really enjoy their educational experiences as best as possible.  These are:
• Membership Chairperson, aka: team leader. The heart of this organization is its membership. You will be the face of Ray PTO, greeting new families and helping recruit new members. You will also be responsible for keeping the membership directory up to date.
• Committee Chairpersons, aka: the ones who make things happen. Ray PTO has quite a few committees formed, including, but not limited to, Box Tops for Education, Hero of the Month, Fundraising, Field Day, Dance and Bulletin Boards. Each event needs a leader. To fill this role it helps if you have connections, are crafty, and can delegate like no other.

• Teacher Representative, aka: staff communicator. Are you a teacher at Ray USD? At least one teacher from each school, Elementary and Junior High / Senior High, is needed to be a teacher representative to help Ray PTO communicate with school staff.
