Manuel H. Macias, 76, of Superior Arizona passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 14, 2019 with his family by his side.

Manuel H. Macias, born on March 21, 1943, is preceded in death by his parents, Juana and Manuel Macias, who raised their family in Terlingua, Texas. He is the eldest of eight children.

He is survived by his loving wife of over half a century, Mercy; daughters, Lugarda and Veronica; sons, James (Pam) and Manuel Jr.; adopted daughter, Brenda (Saul); 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Manuel proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a proud member of the VFW Superior Post #2584. He worked in the Magma mine until it shut down in 1982. He then moved into his career job with the Department of Corrections (Globe Unit). He happily retired in early 2005.

Manuel was a dedicated family man, who had a nickname for everyone. He never said “no” to his wife. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, building things, eating, the holidays and especially rooting on his Dallas Cowboys!

“How lucky were we to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard” (adapted from Winnie the Pooh).

We love and miss you Dad/Tata!

Services for Manuel were held Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior, Arizona. He was laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.

Family was assisted with exceptional service by Superior Funeral Home.
