Pioneer Days is the time for family reunions. Classmates know they will find long lost friends and relatives at the softball fields, roping arena, following children around the carnival and especially at their favorite food booths.
The theme is Spirit of the West and is depicted on the brown T-shirts. There is still time to sign up for the parade but don’t wait till Saturday morning. They will need a signed form and something about your entry for the Master of Ceremonies. Look for Rose Bradford or Debra Sommers at Pioneer Park or sign up at the Chamber table at the Ramada. The parade line up begins at 9 a.m. and starts promptly at 10 a.m.
Look for these food vendors starting with our two local families. Jenny and Jerry MaGee- fry bread, funnel cake, curly fries; The Lara’s Sun Clan Catering- fry bread or Indian tacos, New Mexico Posole, corn tacos. Others returning are Diamond W – Chicago or chili dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, nachos, funnel cakes, and raspados; Don Rigdon – sno cones and gelato; Jakes Donuts – mini donuts, funnel cakes, cotton candy, shaved ice; Al O Banion – Texas twister real lemonade, iced tea, hot chocolate; Big Papas Italian Sausage sandwich, New York cheesesteak, cheesesteak combo, sirloin hamburger, 3 piece chicken tenders, mac and cheese bites, curly fries, vegetable sandwich, hand dipped corn dogs; Big Papa’s Soda Wagon; Big Top Concessions Gorditas, tacos, burritos, fajitas, nachos, sausage wraps, turkey legs.
There will be the usual merchandise vendors with handbags, t-shirts and toys the children love and on Saturday there will be information booths lined up along the Little League area of Pioneer Park with some really good information. Of course this year there will be an abundance of politicians.
Because of insurance regulations vehicles are not allowed in the area once the carnival starts.
Strollers and wheelchairs are welcomed. No dogs, no smoking has to be enforced especially around areas where food is served.
The weather should be great. Have fun during Pioneer Days.
