, 75 of Mesa, AZ passed away April 19, 2014, surrounded by loved ones.
Henry was born Oct. 29, 1938 in Phoenix, AZ to Armida Martinez Marquez and Jose A. Marquez. The family resided in Sonora, AZ and Henry graduated from Ray HS in 1956. He was drafted into the Army and was stationed in California. After his discharge he spent several years working in California but missed his beloved AZ and returned home.
Henry began his safety and health career at Kennecott Copper Mine and lived in Kearny. He graduated from CAC, Aravaipa campus with a degree in Applied Science. Henry completed his long and loved career in safety and health with State of AZ O.S.H.A as Consultant, Education, and Training Supervisor and V.P.P. Team Leader.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Lucy (Gorham) Marquez; children, Michael (Sheila) Marquez of Tucson and Brian (Rachelle) Marquez of Chandler; grandchildren, Brian Marquez II, Samantha Marquez and Sarah Marquez; brother, Ramon; and sisters, Cecelia Castillo and Mary Helen Walker and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father and brothers, Ray and Alfred.
Henry’s love was always his family and was happiest when surrounded by all of them. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 141 N Macdonald, Mesa, AZ on May 2, 2014 at 3:00 pm. A celebration of Henry’s life will follow at the family home.
