Johnny “John” Delgado, who was born Nov. 21, 1954 in Superior, AZ to Pete and Lucy Delgado, passed away on Feb. 24, 2014 at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa.
He is survived by his mother, Lucia (Lucy); son, Dominic Delgado; sisters, Sylvia (Bob) Barrett and Cecilia Lopez; and brother, Al (Lydia) Delgado. He has also left many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Pete Delgado.
Visitation and Rosary were held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior. Mass of Christian Burial followed. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Superior where he was laid to rest with Dad, other uncles, aunt, cousin, grandparents and great-grandmother.
John worked for Magma Copper until 1982 when it closed. He then went to work in Mesa, where he lived for a very short time before returning “home”.
He was a member of Concerned Citizens and Retired Miners Coalition since its inception.
John loved walking and photographing the surrounding area, sunsets from Superior and learning about the stars and constellations from his good friend, Steve “Astro” Casillas. Always easy going and forgiving he never shied away from expressing his mind.
