Dorothy Fay Cruce, 73, of Oracle passed away on the morning of Jan. 16, 2014.
She was born to the late Claude and Eva O’Barr on Sept. 9, 1940, in Ensley, Alabama. She married Robert Cruce on Oct. 29, 1956 and resided in Oracle.
Dorothy was a Registered Nurse who obtained her degree in nursing in 1981 after having raised six children. She worked at Pinal General Hospital until her retirement in 1991.
Dorothy was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Oracle where she taught Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School and sang in the church choir.
Dorothy’s many interests included home canning, baking, and crocheting. She enjoyed playing video games with the grandchildren as well as schooling them on how to play the piano. An occasional wood cutting trip was not out of the question with a packed picnic lunch for the family.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert; children, David (Joyce) Cruce, Tom Cruce, Kathy (Larry) Bache, Mikeal (Jacque) Cruce, Tim Cruce, and Crystal Cruce. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Crowson, Claude O’Barr Jr. and Winnie Nelson.
As family and friends were important to Dorothy the family has requested in lieu of flowers that you spend some time with family and friends and enjoy your time with them.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Oracle, AZ.
