William K. ‘Beba’ Bowan

William K. “Beba” Bowan passed away peacefully at his home in Kearny, Ariz. surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Hurley, New Mexico on June 16, 1918 (96 years old) to Mitchell and Leonorah Bowan. Beba was one of 12 children.

He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Bowan, his parents Mitchell and Leonorah Bowan, four brothers and five sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife Lorna of 67 years. He is also survived by his children and their spouses: Sons, Robert “Bob” Bowan (Debbie) and John “Mike” Bowan; daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Burns (Curtis), Rebecca (Becky) Richardson (Garth), Karen Smith (John), and Lori Graham (Dana). He is also survived by two sisters, Nadine Mathews and Naomi Light.

Beba had 29 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. He is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and relatives scattered all over the country.

Beba was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and active in the Kearny Ward.

Beba was the owner of Buzzy’s Drive-In and lived in Kearny, or the surrounding area for over 56 years. He retired from Kennecott Copper at the Hayden Smelter.

His humor, kindness, service and ability to make everyone feel like family will be greatly missed.

Funeral services: Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kearny, Ariz. with burial to follow at the Kearny Memorial Cemetery.
