Friendships, education, community, family, tradition and respect, were all words that the 2015 inductees used to describe how their education in Superior helped them to achieve the success they have earned in their careers and adult lives. The families of Fernando Vender and Betty Blaylock also shared how their parents life in Superior extended onto them as they grew up and even as they raised their children.

Each of the delegates had brief heartfelt remarks about receiving their awards; they shared stories of their growing up in Superior and how it affected their ability to succeed.

Lucy Wing in her acceptance speech encouraged all of the inductees to share their success with Superior.

“Come back and do something good for the Town,” she encouraged.

James Ray shared a story of how Gallo Villareal saved his life when they were swimming in the number one and he wanted to publicly thank him for saving his life.

Ronald Gomez talked of recognized his wife for always supporting him and raising their children. He also talked of how we must stand up against discrimination, even today.

Yolanda Najera-Ewing thanked her husband Bob for always supporting her through everything.

Many of the inductees had family and friends who traveled from out of state to participate in the ceremony and many past inductees attended the event to celebrate with the new hall of fame recipients. The event becomes a reunion of sorts, bringing people back to town, many of them have not visited in decades.

The event was catered by the Superior High School food service students, decorations were provided by Rose’s Roses and photography was done by Desert Expressions Photography, all local vendors in Superior.
