, 95, passed away on April 8 at Northwest Hospital in Tucson, of old age.
Mr. Perez was preceded in death by his mother Maria Luisa Escalante; brothers: Charlie, Ricardo, Andres and Librado; sister, Hortencia; two sons Raymundo and Richard ( Milo); and the love of his life, his wife, Herminia G . Perez.
He is survived by his daughters: Gloria P. (Rudy N.) Lorona, Mary Lou (the late Alfred) Mendez, son Ramon G. (Gloria) Perez; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren who will miss their Tata Mon dearly.
Ramon attended Washington School in Sonora. In 1944 he was employed by Kennecott Copper Corp. He retired in 1984. He joined the military to enter World War II on August 22, 1944 and was honorably discharged on April 8, 1946. He was a Private First Class (PFC) in the 42nd Infantry Division 3rd Battalion 222nd Infantry Regiment, stationed in France. During his service to our country he received the Purple Heart.
As my brothers were growing up, our father stayed busy attending the games of his sons, which included football, basketball, track and Little League. He also loved watching the Sonora Tiger Semi -ProTeam and was an avid lover of boxing. He and my mother loved dancing; that was their favorite pastime., they spent a great deal of time active with the El Sonorense Club and the Black and White Club of Superior.
Our father was a do it yourself-er , He always stayed busy repairing things around the house. Our dad loved to travel .especially in the summertime. He would take us on vacation every summer to California.,Texas, or camping. Once he retired , my mother and he traveled all over Mexico. they went to Guadalajara, Mexico City , Xochimilco, Mazatlan and other cities here in the States.
Service was held at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Kearny, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, with burial taking place at Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden.
The Ray High School ROTC, directed by WIll JOrdan, provided a 21 Gun Salute and Taps military service at Mt. View Cemetery. Also, Frank Giroux, Americanism Officer of the Military Order of The Purple Heart, offered a military speech for our dad, Ramon. A luncheon followed at the Leo Terrell in Kearny with family and friends to remember the great life that our dad and tata shared with us.
