Ray District Schools welcomed back students today and also welcomed three new teachers.

Joseph A. Caputois teaching 9-12 math classes. He has a BS in Science/Math from the California University of PA and was inspired to teach by his high school teachers. He said after spending 20 years in industry he decided to bring some of his experience into the classroom. His career goals include completing his current teaching certification.

He has two children Vincent and Elizabeth and enjoys fly fishing, golf and woodworking.

Roxanna Fuerstenbergis the new English/Language Arts teacher for grades seven and eight. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Arizona State University and has three years teaching experience including one year as a third grade teacher at a Charter School and two years as a long term sub for the Ray District in high school Math and junior high school social studies. She is currently teaching on a Teacher-Intern Certificate and is qualified to teach 6-12 grade English and Psychology.

She chose teaching as a career because she loves to work with children of all ages. She said she also loves to teach children new things and see them grow and excel in school and life. She added that she has worked for Ray Schools in the past and missed being around the kids and staff.

Her career goals include eventually obtaining a Masters Degree in Education and would like to add on as many areas as possible to her teaching certification. She wants to be able to help out the District as much as she can and wants to inspire children to have a desire to learn and further their education.

She is married to Joe Fuerstenberg, also a District teacher, and together they have five children, Daniel, Aaron, Isaiah, James and Mary.

Her hobbies and interests include music and she plays multiple instruments. She also enjoys playing and watching all sports, especially basketball. She added that the thing she loves the most is spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoor, camping, fishing and hiking. She likes helping others and performing her church callings. She also enjoys crafting and loves a good joke.

Remy Pepperis taking over the District Music Department and is teaching 5-12 grade band and fourth grade general music. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and holds a Bachelors in Music Education.

She said she always knew she wanted to teach and used to teach her sister the things she learned in school. During her senior year in high school she realized that she wanted to teach music and is so glad she made that decision.

Her career goals include continuing to teach music, any grade, until she can’t move.

Hayden-Winkelman School District has one new teacher this year, who will be profiled by the Copper Basin News in the Aug. 12 edition.

Vicki Clark (49 Posts)

Vicki started her career in the journalism field while attending Ray High School in Kearny with an excellent teacher who took her by the hand and guided her. She worked on the school newspaper and as a senior was a co-editor. Her dream was to go on to college to study journalism and eventually to travel the world reporting the news. This dream was interrupted by life circumstances. She stayed in Kearny and went to work for the Copper Basin News in 1964 as a typesetter. Her editor was Ira Q. Toler and he also was a good teacher. After marrying and having children, her desires to again work in the newspaper field surfaced. She responded to an ad for a position in advertising for the Copper Basin News which included selling, lay-out and design. She was hired on the spot. The business has greatly changed with technology and the introduction of desktop publishing. She was fortunate enough to be a part of it. She has now worked for Copper Area News Publishers on and off for over 30 years, starting when John Seater was the publisher. She has held many positions over the years, but is most proud to be named a reporter. She loves to write and is so grateful for being given that chance.
