Melissa Barbara Brito was born on March 7, 1971 in Superior, AZ and passed away peacefully in Cleveland, OH on May 20, 2019.

Melissa, daughter of Dalia “Dolly” Garcia-Brito, grew up in Superior and was active in the Baile Folkorico and CYM.  She graduated from Superior High School in 1988. In 2012, she graduated Cuyahoga Community College with a degree in Nursing and in 2013 she attended Notre Dame College where she studied Sociology and Psychology.  Melissa had many interests and loved art, music and spending time with friends.

Adventurous she was, in 1994 she looked beyond the borders of Superior and Arizona then drove east to Cleveland, OH.  There is where she began the next chapter of her life and reconnected with her now partner and love of her life, Bonnie.

Melissa was loved by all and she is very much alive in sprit and in our hearts.  She is survived by her partner, Bonnie King; Aunt Ofelia Garcia-Lopez, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Dalia Garcia-Brito (2013), father, David Brito (2017), sister, Lisa Brito (1969) and grandparents Mike (1994) and Jessie (1997) Garcia.

There will be a Mass of Intention Saturday, June 22, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Superior at 5 p.m.

“Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.” Author Unknown
