The Copper Basin Chapter of the Well Armed Woman is about to celebrate its second anniversary. For two years, the Copper Basin Chapter has been bringing the sport of shooting to women of all experience levels in our communities. Along with just the enjoyment of the sport, the chapter is also educating women on safety and correct use of firearms, self-defense with and without firearms, mindset when conceal carrying and many more topics. The goal of the chapter and the entire organization itself is to educate, equip and empower women as they strive to make important personal choices in their lives. Through the chapter, women are discovering their passion, developing their skills, finding their confidence and building new relationships within the communities.

With confident and capable instructors, this chapter is going strong and plans to continue for many years to come. Marti Stonecipher, Kari Ramsey and Renee Ramsey lead the Copper Basin Chapter and have been striving to educate and empower women since the start of the chapter in April 2013. These three women have attended many classes to further educate themselves so that they may be the best role models and leaders that they can be. Some of the classes they have attended include NRA Instructor Training, the Well Armed Woman Instructor Training, NRA Range Safety Officer Training, Defensive Handgun, Carbine Training, Hunter Education Instructor Training, and Individual First Aid Kit/Trauma First Aid, with many more classes on their to-do lists.

The Copper Basin Chapter has also made it a goal to be more involved in domestic violence awareness. The Well Armed Woman is so much more than just a shooting club. The Well Armed Woman focuses heavily on self-defense. Not only to teach women to be independent and confident enough to protect themselves and their families, but to help those who didn’t have those skills at one time in their lives. They believe that all women should have security in their lives, no matter how that security may come.

One of the biggest and most exciting changes the chapter and the organization has experienced is becoming a non-profit organization. The Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters became a 501c(3) non-profit organization on Jan. 1, 2015. With this change comes the ability to do so much more for the community. The chapters are now able to fundraise, not only for things they need within the chapter, but for other needs in the community. This also means that any donations given to the chapter are tax deductible. It’s a win-win for everyone!

Along with being one of the leaders of the Copper Basin Chapter, Marti Stonecipher is also the new program director for the Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters. She manages all the chapters nationwide. So don’t think this is just some silly little girl’s club. The Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters is a huge organization that is doing huge things, and the Copper Basin Chapter is in the heart of it all!

Currently there are over 200 chapters of the Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters in 48 states and it is growing every single day. This is an amazing group to be a part of and if you were ever interested, now is the time to check it out. The first meeting is always free and is for all women 21 years old and up. There are some amazing benefits to becoming a member of the Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters: discounts at businesses nationwide and online including 10 percent off at the Well Armed Woman online store. Also, members receive discounts with Glock! Yes that’s right, discounts with Glock! Ready to join yet?
