Kearny Elks host East District Hoop Shoot

Sarrah Perez placed first in the District Hoop Shoot and advances to the State Competition in February.

On Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, the Kearny Elks Lodge hosted the 43rd annual East District Hoop Shoot. There were 33 shooters that participated, each took first place in their local Hoop Shoots, from ten different Elks Lodges through out the state.

The Shooters from Kearny placed as follows: 8-9 boys, Deondra Collier placed third, the 8-9 girls Alexis Gallegos also placed third, in the 10-11 boys, Manny Granillo placed fifth and in the 10-11 year old girls, Sarrah Perez took first place. In the 12-13 boys division, Alex Carrillo took third, and in the 12-13 year old girls, Brianne Goad took third. Sarrah Perez will advance to the state competition that will be held in Apache Junction on Saturday Feb. 7.

The Kearny Elks Lodge would like to thank Ray Schools for providing the gym, to Ray Schools Superintendent Curt Cook for taking the time to set up the gym and to Old Time Pizza and Gordon’s IGA for their contributions.
