Isabel Velez Trujillo

, 91, of Kearny AZ entered into heaven to be with her husband Alfredo R. Trujillo on July 15, 2015. Isabel, known to her friends as “Chavela” and family as “Nana Bell” was born on June 17, 1924 in Sonora, AZ to Jesus and Rafaela (Saenz) Velez. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, tia, daughter, and friend.

On Aug. 10, 1947, she married Alfredo R. Trujillo and they shared four beautiful daughters. Isabel was hardworking and devoted to her husband and family. She had many jobs during her lifetime which included homemaker, seamstress, nanny, and caregiver to many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Isabel will be remembered by her family as a woman who took great pride in her home and providing for her children and grandchildren. She loved gatherings in her home and enjoyed being surrounded by her loved ones. She was a devoted Catholic who was active in her church as well as an active Senior Citizen in Kearny AZ. In her later years, Isabel was living in Gilbert, AZ. Her greatest joy was being visited by her family members, receiving the Holy Sacrament every Sunday, and talking about all of her memories.

She is survived by her sister, Cruz Gonzales of San Jose, CA; daughters, Irma (Dave) Weatherford of Mesa, Bernice “Googoo” (Armando) Lechuga of Kearny, Dorothy Trujillo of Florence and Selma (Daniel) Hatfield of Kearny; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Isabel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfredo; siblings, Ramon, Ignacia, David, Arturo, and Margaret; and nephew, Jesus Velez.

Funeral services for Isabel will be Friday, July 24, 2015 at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Kearny beginning with the viewing at 8 a.m. The Rosary will begin at 9 a.m. and the Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. Isabel will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Superior, AZ. Luncheon is to follow at Infant Jesus of Prague in Kearny AZ.
