Irene Paddock, 79, of Arizona and formerly of Dennison, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Lydia Irene Paddock was born Feb. 26, 1936 to Lawrence and Lilly (Buchanan) Phillips in Prescott, Kansas. After high school, Irene attended cosmetology school and ran a beauty shop for nearly four years. She married Don Paddock on Aug. 14, 1955 and attended Junior
College in Iola, Kansas, while Don taught school.
Don and Irene had children, Chrystine and Mark. The Paddocks moved to Minnesota in 1966 when Don began teaching in Northfield. They raised their family in Dennison and Irene started working at the State Bank of Dennison. She worked there for over 30 years. They enjoyed traveling and camping and snow birding in Arizona. In 2001 they moved to Oracle, Arizona and called that home. Irene really enjoyed quilting and made over 50 quilts to give away.
In the spring of 2015, Irene started battling leukemia. She spent 34 days in the hospital and was diagnosed cancer free. Irene and Don came to Minnesota to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary and the leukemia returned while they were there.
Irene is survived husband, Don; daughter, Chrys (Clyde) Eggum of Dennison; son, Mark (Sandy) Paddock of Faribault; grandsons, Andrew and Joseph Eggum, Erik and Adam Paddock; and great-granddaughters, Kaia Eggum and Moira Paddock; sisters, Lorraine (Ron) Wynn of Kansas and Ladeen (Joe) Poole of California. She was preceded in death by her
parents.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Dennison Lutheran Church, with interment at the Prairie Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Dennison Lutheran Church, Oracle Union Church or Prairie Creek Cemetery.
