The Hayden softball team, which has won nine of its last 11 games, earned a berth in state playoffs which began last week.
The eighth-seeded Lady Lobos earned a first-round bye and played their first game on Tuesday, facing No. 9-seed Mohave Acclerated.
With a win against the Patriots, the Lady Lobos would face the winner between No. 17 Valley Christian and No. 1 Veritas Prep in the quarterfinals on Friday, May 8. That game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Rose Mofford Complex in Phoenix.
