Hayden native Francisco Jimenez “Frank” Jauregui, 97, passed away Sept. 18, 2016, in San Fernando, Calif. He was born June 6, 1919, the son of Francisco S. and Nieves (Jimenez) Jauregui.
He was a diligent worker for the Asarco Mines here in Arizona, as well as brief work in Peru in the 1950s. Frank also enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific arena. After 35 years of work for the mines, he retired and moved to San Fernando, California, where he lived out the rest of his 97 years. In later years, he enjoyed music and karaoke at the senior center, playing guitar, meeting new people, and making them laugh. He died at home after a brief illness, and he will be missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Armida Monroy of Mammoth, brother Roberto Jauregui, first wife Mary (Ayala), their infant son Rudolph, and his second wife Juanita (Enriquez).
Left to mourn are his sister Maria (Rudy) Govea and brother Joe Jauregui, both of San Fernando; his daughters: Cecelia Barragan, also of San Fernando, Cristina (William) Lem of Tucson, Frances (Lorenzo) Bufanda of Winkelman, and Margaret (Randolph) Renteria of Tucson; his sons Frank (Dolores) and David (Selina) Jauregui, both of San Fernando; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Services and interment were held in San Fernando on Sept. 23, 2016.
