FLORENCE– A joint effort between multiple law enforcement agencies, leads to the arrest, conviction, and sentencing of 43-year old David Bjornstad for having child pornography on his laptop.

Last month a Pinal County Superior Court judge sentenced the former Maricopa resident to 17 years in the Department of Corrections plus a lifetime of probation upon his eventual release. Bjornstad previously pled guilty to one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child and two counts of Attempted Sexual Exploitation.

In January 2015, an FBI agent investigated the online sharing of child pornography and linked multiple illegal videos to Bjornstad’s laptop. An investigation revealed Bjornstad possessed and traded videos depicting the sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of small children. Multiple agencies, including the FBI, the Chandler Police Department, the Phoenix Police Department, and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office coordinated their efforts to conduct the investigation. Law enforcement eventually tracked the defendant down to Texas. Police there arrested him and extradited him back to Pinal County.
