, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep June 29, 2015 at his home in San Manuel, Arizona. “Carl”, as he was known to family and friends, was born on May 8, 1933 in Tupelo, Arkansas. He was the second of three sons born to Archie and Anlee Marshall.
His work life included truck driving,Highway Patrol reserve officer, own and operator of his own gas station in Mammoth, as well as owner and operator of a TV repair shop in San Manuel. Then, in 1960, he began his career with Magma Copper Company where he worked for 33 years as the “Drill Doctor” until his retirement in 1994.
Carl was a man of many hobbies and talents. He loved metal detecting, woodworking, photography, drawing and painting, playing the guitar, operating his ham radio, and writing. In 2009, Carl published a book entitled “My Life With Magma Copper.” He was a huge outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed exploring old ghost towns and mining camps. When Carl wasn’t collecting rocks,coins or trinkets of some sort, he would likely be hanging out at the Ray Blair Airport with is friends.
Carl leaves behind his devoted wife of 63 years, Lottie Marshall; brother, A.W. Marshall; three children, Debbie (Rick) May, Larry (Joni) Marshall and Nancy (John) Davis; seven grandchildren, Crissy Anderson, Briauna Stuart, Mekahla Cheney, Retosha Castro, Dakota Marshall, Amanda Moreno and Chris Davis; seven great-grandchildren, Payton Stuart, Macie Stuart, Logan Stuart, Abigail Cheney, Kylee Cheney, Eric Moreno II and Zalden Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bobby James Marshall.
A small private graveside service will be held for close family members.
