Carmen Madrid Boltarez was laid to rest on June 17, beside her husband Marcos Romero Boltarez at Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden. She was born Aug. 24, 1923 and passed away June 10, 2015.
Carmen is preceded in death by her sister, Jessie Vaques; brother, Nacho Madrid; and nephews, Michael Madrid and Daniel Moreno. She is survived by her three brothers, Pete Madrid, George Madrid and Frank Madrid; sisters, Nellie Cuestas and Lilly Moreno; son Markie (Lena) Boltarez, and his five children Mark Anthony, Liberty (Wade) Bailey, Isaiah, Demteria, and Ezekiel; daughter, Nancy Almanza and her three children, James Paul Hughes, Kathy (Frank) Smith and their three children, and Carolee (Chris) Casillas and her two children. Carmen had eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, along with many, many nieces and nephews, and, she loved them all .
Carmen’s passion was to make out of town casino trips. She loved to go to parties, to bowl, and, to go dancing. She worked in Tiger as a cashier and also in San Pedro, Hayden, Winkelman and Mammoth as a movie theater cashier, at the Senior Center Meals on Wheels as a driver, a cleaner for Gila County in the Hayden-Winkelman jail and a volunteer for the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She retired at 85 years young. She made friends with everyone she met. She loved much and was loved by all.
