Antonia “Toni” Romero, 73, died peacefully on Nov. 19, 2014 at Casa de la Luz Hospice in Tucson, Ariz., after a three year struggle with cancer. Toni was born Jan. 20, 1941, in the home of her late parents (Luis and Matilda Westrope) in Winkelman, Ariz.
Toni enjoyed playing softball, cooking and being with her family. She learned to pitch in her teen years and was one of the best-know pitchers in the neighboring towns. She was also known for her cooking and was the cook for El Burrito in Winkelman, Ariz. where all her favorite and traditional dishes were prepared.
Toni was married to the love of her life Lorenzo M. Romero for 54 years and is survived by three daughters: Isabel Darby, Aurelia Munoz and Velia Alonzo.
Toni is also survived by two sisters and two brothers; nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and additional nieces and nephews she was like a mother to.
Services are Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014. Public viewing at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 300 Mountain View Dr. Hayden, Ariz.
