The 6th annual Superior Home Tour and Antique Show is more than just a home tour and shopping opportunity. The two day event, Jan. 24-25, gives visitors and residents a chance to discover the rich history of Superior, taste homemade goodies, be entertained by local historians and explore the creativity of many local artists and home owners.

It is a chance to peek inside the homes of some of Superior’s most creative residents who have turned old homes into unique cottages and mini mansions complete with wine cellars and libraries. Many of the homes have used repurposed and recycled materials to complete the remodeling. The home of the Casillas family on San Pedro and the home of the late Smith brothers, Fred and Coochie Smith, are two of the homes being featured this year. The art gallery of Chuck Davidson and David Bentancourt will also be open for public view.

The tour costs $10 per person ($12 if you purchase tickets at the door) the ticket includes admission to the homes on the tour, and two for one admission coupons to the Arizona Renaissance Festival and the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Those not wishing to purchase a ticket may still enjoy the antique show and sale at the Magma Club, watch the firing of Mata Ortiz potters, purchase art from local artists, visit the Copper Corridor Mobile Visitor Center, and listen to history lectures and authors as well as tour the Pinal Cemetery.

Some of the historical speakers and authors presenting for this year’s tour are Steve Germick, the Tonto National Forest Historian, a Wyatt Earp reenactor will speak and mingle with the crowd and Carol Schumacher will discuss hearth and homes of the Early West. Lou Oates will be signing his new photo book of Superior. Throughout the day there will be live entertainment and a few food vendors at the Magma Club.

For more information or to purchase your Home Tour tickets please call the Superior Chamber of Commerce at 520-827-0200 or visit them online at www.superiorarizonachamber.org.
