The Oracle Historical Society (OHS) will host the 31st Annual Oracle Run on Saturday, October 26, 2013. This event is one of OHS’ most successful fundraising ventures, and over 200 runners and walkers from all over the country attend the 10,000 km (6.2 miles) Run and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk event.
Thanks to a host of dedicated volunteers and supporters, including long-time Race Director Darrell Klesch, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Posse, Pinal County Public Works and Oracle Fire Department, and the sponsorship of the Southern Arizona Roadrunners (SAR), the Annual Oracle Run is always an exhilarating morning of athletics, awards, door prizes, food and family fun.
Oracle Run t-shirts boast original artwork and never have advertising. The design is always by artists either from Oracle or connected to Oracle in a significant way. This year’s t-shirt design is by renowned artist and Oracle resident Andrew Rush. Andy is a long-time member, Historic Member and past-president of OHS. This will be the second time in 31 years that he has created the t-shirt design for the event.
A t-shirt is part of every race packet if an entry form and fee of $25 is received by October 21. After that date the fee to enter is $35, and a t-shirt in your size can’t be guaranteed. So register early to run or walk, or plan to attend as a cheerleader, volunteer or observer this year! Registration forms are available on the OHS website (www.oraclehistoricalsociety.org), the SAR website (www.azroadrunners.org), the OHS office and in select running stores around Tucson. The 10k event starts at 9 AM, and the one-mile Fun Run/Walk at 9:05.
Proceeds from the Oracle Run benefit the Oracle Historical Society and support its ongoing and important efforts to document and preserve this area’s rich history. Call OHS at 896-9609 or email oraclehistoricalsociety@gmail.org for more information.
