The Oracle School District Board voted at the recommendation of interim-Superintendent Dennis Blauser to suspend the music and art programs for the 2013-14 school year and make nine staffing cuts as a result of troubling economic realities.
Blauser said not one reduction was taken lightly. “This is an incredibly challenging, difficult time,” he said.
The Board also approved the release of eight classified support staff and one certified teacher. The Superintendent and Board members said it was a difficult decision to make and that they would like to see art and music programs return once the budget allows for it.
