Yocum, Lorona lead No. 6 Lady Cats in rout

  Ray junior Shelby Yocum scored a game-high 30 points and senior Tara Lorona finished with a double-double – 23 points and 13 rebounds – as the sixth-ranked Lady Cats routed rival Superior on the road last Friday night, 74 – 8.

  The Lady Cats have now held opponents to 10 points or fewer six times this season.

Yocum, a Player of the Year candidate, also had seven rebounds, four assists and seven steals. Emma Stuart added eight rebounds and Emily Rutter had six to go along six points.

  Freshman Julianna Navarro scored three points to lead Superior.

With the win, Ray improved to 8 – 1 in region games, good enough for second place behind undefeated Ft. Thomas.

  Ray up next: Jan. 24 at San Manuel, Jan. 25 at Arete Prep. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
