For the past four years, the Superior Chamber of Commerce Home Tour weekend was met with sunny skies, and moderate temperatures, the type of weather most call Chamber of Commerce weather.

This year, event organizers were met with the logistics of managing some very wet weather.

Those logistics were put into place and the event ran as successfully as it normally does on a sunny January weekend.

The Magma Club was filled with lots of antiques, the art show was moved into the diner on Main Street and all of the homes on the tour were open and ready to greet visitors to their homes.

If anything, the rain provided visitors the opportunity to see Superior under the clouds, and hear the roar of Queen Creek as it runs through the town.

Like most things in life, it is best not to judge a book by its cover. On the tour this year were six very unique homes. If you saw them from the outside you would think that they were just common homes, but inside the homes had a personality all of their own.

One of the homes on the tour used mostly recycled construction materials and also had some elements that were used in major motion pictures.

One home had a music room complete with a disco ball. This home also had a tropical oasis with a turtle pond, koi pond and aviary.

Some of the homes were small, others were large. The Copper Cottages, once known as the Honeymoon Cottages, were on the tour this year. This one-bedroom home had a unique bathroom that was decorated with industrial materials.

One thing each of the homes featured was the use of colors and textures. Every home on the tour had bright walls, art and murals decorating them.

This year a home in the Highlands was featured and from the landscaping to the interior, home guests had a taste of Tuscany.

One of Superior’s most unique homes, the home of Marilee Lasch was also on the tour again this year. The three-story home was recently featured on the Arizona Highways television show. The home features a wrap-around porch with breathtaking views of Superior and a labyrinth.

Event organizers explained that without the support of their volunteers, the event would not be a success. Over 50 volunteers helped with being hosts at the homes to collecting signs and working at the ticket table including students from the Catholic Youth Ministry.

At press time, the Superior Chamber of Commerce reported that they sold 650 tickets to the event.

The Superior Chamber of Commerce Home Tour is held the last weekend of January every year. For more information about the Chamber or the event please contact the chamber at 520-689-0200 or SuperiorArizonaChamber.org.
