The Superior Parks and Recreation department is making plans to host a monthly event in Superior. The event is called First Fridays and will be held the first Friday of each month. Many communities in Arizona and throughout the nation have started hosting these events as a way to attract people to downtown commerce areas and provide an avenue for street vendors to meet more customers.

The First Friday events in Superior will feature local entertainment, competitions, vendors, art, talent shows, and food.

The parks and recreation department is inviting all local groups such as school groups, churches, and service groups such as the Optimist and Rotary to get involved to help grow the event. The First Friday events are scheduled to begin on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. The event will be held on Main Street from 5 to 9 p.m.

Anyone interested in assisting with the planning of First Fridays or would like to have a booth at the event should contact Pete Casillas at 520-827-0692.
