The start of the 2013 Holualoa Tucson Marathon

Though it was dark, cloudy and windy with the temperature hovering just above freezing, the 2013 Holualoa Tucson Marathon started at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, on the top of Cody Loop Road in Oracle. Hundreds of runners braved the weather to run from Oracle down Highway 77 to Catalina with the race ending 26.2 miles later at the Golder Ranch Fire Station. The Tucson Marathon has been an annual event since 1995 and is a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. (John Hernandez photos)
