Pinal County Elections Office certifies recall petitions

The Superior Copper Alliance was notified yesterday that the recall petitions have been certified.

The next step in the recall process allows for Councilmember Soyla “Kiki” Peralta to decide if she wants to run in the recall election or resign her position. Peralta has 10 days to make that decision once the Town of Superior officially receives the certification notice from the Pinal County Elections Department. Peralta is being recalled on the grounds of maleficence and multiple violations of the open meeting law. The Alliance collected more than 200 signatures to recall Peralta. Only 120 signatures valid signatures were needed.

Last week the mail in ballots for the upcoming Home Rule Election were mailed. The Superior Copper Alliance would like to encourage residents to vote yes on the Home Rule-Proposition 400. Voting yes will allow for the town to spend the revenues they collect to provide police, fire, senior center and library services. If Home Rule is not passed, the Town will be forced to dramatically cut the services they provide. This could negatively impact the quality of services such as police, fire, ambulance, public works and the library, or they may even be forced to cut some of them completely.
