In Luke 9, Jesus asked His disciples just who people thought that He was. Their reply was that He was believed to be someone from the past, brought back to life. Maybe He was John the Baptist or even Elijah, possibly one of the ancient prophets of old.
Jesus had hid the fact that He was the Son of God. During His lifetime on earth, there were many itinerant preachers traveling around and trying to gain a following. Jesus was content to wait in obscurity until it was Father God’s time for the people to know Him. That is why He told Mary that it was not yet His time, when she asked Him to do a miracle at the wedding in Cana.
My question is this: who do you think Jesus is? The Holy Scriptures tell us that He is a part of the Triune Godhead – Father God, Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. In Genesis we read that God said, “Let ‘us’ make man in ‘our’ image.” Jesus said that He always listened to what Father God wanted Him to do or say, before doing or saying anything.
1 Timothy 2:5 says that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between Father God and mankind. Because He hung on the cross and died for our sins, He is our Savior. When we give Him control over our life, He is our Lord. By living a life in obedience to His commands, He is our Master.
Peter’s answer to Jesus’ question was: You are the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the Living and Eternal God. Is that who He is in your life? He should be. Because if He truly is – then you are a Christian, one who follows Him and strives to be like Christ Jesus. Live what you believe and know in your heart!
