With the holidays quickly approaching, shopping lists seem to get longer and longer. This holiday season there are several opportunities to shop local and find something for everyone on your list. When you purchase your holiday gifts locally more of those dollars stay in our community. According to Local First Arizona, shopping at locally owned businesses re-circulates money over and over and creates up to 75 percent more tax revenue to the community and state. For every $100 spent in a locally owned business $73 stays in the community and only $27 of those dollars will leave the community.

There are several options and creative ideas for shopping in Superior this holiday season.

Daystar Studios located in the home of Marilee Lasch will be hosting a holiday boutique this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The boutique will feature nine local crafter and artisans who will be selling their wares, everything from clothes and jewelry to food items. This is a great opportunity to shop local this holiday season. The boutique is located at 200 N. Magma Ave.

The opening of Random Boutique on Main Street adds another shopping opportunity along with the Copper Gecko and Rolling Rock Gallery. All three stores have plenty of items to choose from. Rolling Rock Gallery has a large assortment of educational toys and games as well as gifts for the home. You never know what you will find at the Copper Gecko from antiques and furniture to clothing and jewelry, there is something for everyone. Random Boutique has purses, clothes, home decor and also offers a 5 percent discount to residents of Superior. La Serna on Pinal Avenue has a wide array of Mexican pottery as well as art, vintage clothes and jewelry. The new Midway Auctions are open every Friday night, you never know what treasure you may find there.

Superior Lumber has plenty of tools, gizmos and gadgets to satisfy that do it yourself-er or handy man on your list. New home owners this year may enjoy yard tools which are also available at Superior Lumber yard.

For the foodie on your gift list how about gift certificates to one of the local restaurants, baked goods from one of the home bakeries, Superior Sweets or Le Cookies and More. Kitchen gadgets and dish towels can be found at both Save Money Market or Family Dollar to make a baking basket. Fresh ingredients and unique food products are available at Leo’s Grocery and Save Money Market.

The gift of service is also appreciated, consider gift certificates to local beauty shops, or Southwest Towing for oil changes and tire rotations, and don’t forget a yearly subscription to the Superior Sun can keep friends and family in the loop all year long.
