Where the best spots to view and photograph the Arboretum’s are famous fall color in its full Autumnal splendor and, hey, why do tree leaves change color anyway?

For the answers to these and other questions, be in our visitor center breezeway lobby at 11 a.m. Friday, Saturday or Sunday this weekend for a relaxed walk around the trails with a personable and knowledgeable guide.

Rich Adams, Joyce Jenkins and Dick Montgomery will alternate leading 90-minute guided interpretive tours around the Arboretum’s 1.5-mile Main Trail with a chance to learn a little botany, natural history and why Col. William ‘Boyce’ Thompson created this singular oasis in the Sonoran desert.

Weekend walking tours run Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December and then from New Year’s Day forward they’ll be daily. Walks are included with daily admission of $9 for adults; $4.50 ages 5-12. Read about other events and preview the fall color online at AG.Arizona.edu/BTA.
