With the year wending on toward hunting season, Pete Casillas, NRA certified Fire Arms Instructor and Range Safety Officer for more than 16 years, was asked by the folks at Head Start to give the children a presentation on gun safety.

Casillas’ presentation was from the Eddie Eagle Safety Program and had a very basic, easy to learn message that whenever a child happens to come across a firearm they should stop, don’t touch, leave the area and tell an adult.

The children were also told about the misuse of other potentially harmful items such as certain tools, knifes, matches and lighters. At the end of the class they were given a certificate and a copy of the Eddie Eagle message that they can give to a friend or relative.

“The teachers here at Head Start are great! They care about all these children both in and out of class time and I want to thank them for inviting me to give this important message to the kids” said Pete.

Pete also volunteers assistance to the Red Bear Outfitters with the Junior Hunter Safety Program.
