Annette Gray to speak at Oracle Historical Society

Annette Gray, historian and author, will take local history buffs on a close-up adventure focused on one of Arizona’s famous female historical figures, Mamie Bernard Aguirre (1844-1906).  The presentation will describe the true story of Mamie, a Southern belle, who at age 18, married into the Aguirre family and headed west along the Santa Fe Trail.

The presentation is set for Thursday, March 28, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Acadia Ranch Museum, 825 E. Mt. Lemmon Highway, Oracle.

  Mamie Bernard Aguirre is included in both the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame and the Arizona Women’s Heritage Trail at the University of Arizona. Learn more about Mamie’s triumphs and tribulations in this presentation by the author.

  Annette Gray is the author of Journey of the Heart: A True Story, the definitive biography of Mamie Bernard Aguirre (1844-1906).  The book won the National Santa Fe Trail Association Award of Merit in 2005.

Annette will present a slideshow and a question and answer session, followed by a book signing. There is no charge for this event and refreshments will be served.
