The Superior Rotary Club recently recognized the September Students of the Month from the Superior Junior/Senior High School. Guidance Councelor Angela Brammer escorted the students to the monthly meeting where local Rotarians get the opportunity to meet these stellar students.
Rotary President Roy Chavez congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue to work hard in school. He asked the students to consider volunteering in their school, church and community. He explained that all of the community groups and churches all use volunteers to operate and that giving back is a great way to become a success.
This month the Superior Rotary recognized Alyssa Barragan, Mario Padilla, Elizabeth Ochoa, and Manuelito Guerra.
Alyssa Barragan is the daughter of Michael and Sandra Barragan. She is a senior at Superior High School and plans on attending Mesa Community College after graduation. She would like to major in English and Writing. She is a cheerleader and member of the yearbook staff.
Mario Padilla is the son of Debbie Contreras and James Padilla. He plays football, basketball, and baseball. He is a Senior at Superior High School and plans on attending Mesa Community College after high school. He would like to attend the fire academy at MCC.
Elizabeth Ochoa is an eighth grader at Superior Junior High. After high school she would like to become a doctor. She has not determined what university she would like to attend. She plans on applying for Jr. Honor Society, and is a member of the Arts and Crafts club. She plays volleyball, basketball and softball. She is the daughter of Socorro and Alvaro Tlaxcala
Manuelito Guerra is a seventh grader at Superior Junior High. After high school he would like to become a Navy Seal. He is a member of the football team and also plays Little League baseball. In his spare time he likes to play chess and checkers. Manuelito is the son of Janie and Richard Torrio.
The Superior Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at Noon at Los Hermanos. The club is the oldest service club in Superior and is always looking for new members. For more information contact Roy Chavez at 520-827-9133.
