Last Friday, Sept. 10, the Miners traveled to Superior to take on the Panthers. The team went in and played hard, resulting in another win.

Quarterback Nico Velasquez threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Noah Huerta had 219 receiving yards with three touchdowns. Defensive back Ralphie Valencia had two interceptions.

Isaiah Lopez hit hard on defense, with 10 unassisted tackles and five assisted tackles.

San Manuel was able to head home victorious once more, with a final score of 38-0. Now holding a 3-0 record, the Miners are scheduled to travel and face Valley Union on Friday, Sept. 17, with kickoff at 7 p.m.

“Our team did good, but we still have some work to do,” commented head coach Ernie Ivy. “We are going to work on our game plan for their O and D. It should be a good game.”

Author’s note:  Due to an online statistics error, the information that was provided to the Miner for the San Manuel v. Duncan game article was incorrect. San Manuel still won, but the game did not go into overtime. San Manuel was up 24-8 at halftime, and by the end of the fourth quarter, the Miners won 38-8.
