Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Mary R. Castro passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the age of 96 years.  Mary was born in Jerome, Arizona on Jan. 24, 1926, to parents Adolfo and Priscillianna Rodriguez. Mary graduated from Jerome High School class of 1944. She always loved returning to Jerome every October for the annual “Spooks Night Homecoming Reunion” held for former Jerome residents who attended school in Jerome. Mary grew up in Jerome with seven siblings; six brothers and a sister whom she loved dearly.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Mary relocated to Superior, got married and raised her six sons: Tony (Cuca) Donlin, Eddie (Jenny) Tameron, Joseph (Elvira) Tameron, Richard (Rosie) Tameron, John (Bharathi) Tameron, Rudy (Laura) Tameron.

Mary loved cooking and entertaining, and in 1976 she started Los Hermanos Restaurant with her sons. The restaurant has been serving patrons for more than 45 years.

Mary played the piano and guitar on occasion and loved singing her favorite Mexican classics. She loved mariachi music and dancing, but most of all she loved spending time with her 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Mary was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Joe L. Castro, her siblings and many friends and loved ones she cherished. She will be joined together with them in Heaven.

Services for Mary will be Saturday July 30, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 and Mass at 10. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
