The bright lights, the carnival music, the fragrance of all the foods cooking, popcorn, cotton candy and the screams as the rides reach great heights all tell us that Pioneer Days is finally here.
The Queen and Junior Queen and their court will be crowned Thursday night to usher in the weekend activities. Vendor Row is full of booths with no room to spare.
Merchandise vendors have something for everyone. Richie Rivera is returning with his airbrush painting and Divisty toys with their children’s novelty toys. Face painting by Jennifer Cude will be available and Smuggler has sunglasses, handbags, jewelry and toys. Missy Foster will have her Silver Lining clothing boutique and Hands On will have jewelry.
There will be a great variety of food. Here are all the offerings:
Big Top Concessions – Run by the Dominguez family. Gorditas, tacos, burritos, nachos, sausage wrap, curly fries, turkey legs, agua frescas.
Diamond W – Run by Ken Willey. Kettle corn, Frito pies, nachos, Chicago dogs, pulled pork sandwich, hot wings, roasted corn, turkey legs
Giovanni’s – Concessions, New York sausages
Golden European – Pizza, potato pancakes, potato ribbons, funnel cakes
Jakes donuts – Funnel cakes, mini donuts
JB’s Mobile Catering – BBQ
Magee’s – Turkey legs, fry bread, funnel cakes, curly fries
Rosalia’s Restaurant- Carne Asada, red, green and bean burros
Sam’s Fry bread Place – Native food, fry bread
Sandra Sainz – Red and green corn tamales, barbacoa, beans, rice and nachos
Texas Twister – Lemonade and cheesecake.
Wacky Warrens Café – Hamburgers, curly fries, hotdogs, tacos, fry bread, deep fried oreos, spongies.
Information booths that can be found near the front entrance are ASARCO, Pinal County voter registration, First Investors, Ray Federal Credit Union, Horne Motors and Women of Steel.
Strollers will be available for rent at the ramada. New and stricter rules are now in place concerning vehicles with in the carnival area. Once the carnival opens, the front gate is closed to vehicles including bicycles, skate boards. Wheel chairs and Hov-Arounds are legal.
Come and spend the weekend with us. You can watch team roping, cheer on a softball team, play horse shoes, and spend the weekend eating. It is a great time to meet those you have not seen since last year.
