Catherine Ramirez, a lifelong resident of Superior, has been appointed to the Superior Unified School District Governing Board. Ramirez was sworn in by Board Clerk Mila Besich-Lira on Friday.
Ramirez applied for the vacancy on the board following the resignation of long time local educator and board member Cynthia Benson. She will complete Mrs. Benson’s term, which ends in December of 2016.
County School Superintendent, Jill Broussard reviewed the application and interviewed Mrs. Ramirez before making a final decision. Ramirez was also required to pass a background check to be appointed to the board.
Catherine Ramirez is married to Greg. They have two children, James who is 22 and Gregory who is 10 and in the 5th grade. She is a 1991 graduate of Superior High School and is currently employed at Superstition Mountain Dental in Gold Canyon.
Ramirez has always been an involved parent at the district, she gives several hours of her time every week to volunteering at the school and she is excited to have this opportunity to serve the school and the community in a great capacity.
The Superior School Governing Board meets the first Friday of every month at the JFK Auditorium at 6 p.m.
