On Saturday, Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., fairytales will come alive at the Winter Wonderland celebration to be held at the former Ray Cafeteria Ramada. Churches, organizations, businesses, school groups, bicycles, motorcycles, ATV’s, marching bands or individuals will be entering the parade, signing up to provide entertainment or setting up booths.
The ideas are endless and planning should be starting today. Remember the secret to a good parade entry is lots of lights.
The parade route will start with registration on Griffith to Allen, across the highway to Upton, Alden, Tilbury to 400 Danbury, up Senator Chastain Street to the Ray Ramada. Rain or shine, the parade will go on.
There will be fry bread, funnel cakes, posole, menudo, pastries, hot chocolate and s’mores. There will also be handcrafted merchandise by local artists and the event wizards will be on hand with their fun filled reindeer games.
Fairy princes, princesses and elves will accompany Mr. and Mrs. Claus as they greet the children at 2 p.m. Santa’s route will be revealed later.
Junior Chamber members will be selling memorial luminarios at $2 per bag. This year the money will go to the Arizona State University Autism/ Aspergers Research program.
