Polarfest, the annual San Tan Valley-exclusive winter-carnival-type event, will take place on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at J.O. Combs Middle School, which is located at 37611 N. Pecan Creek Drive in San Tan Valley.
After several successful years at Walker Butte K-8 School, event organizers made the difficult, but financially responsible, decision to move the event to J.O. Combs Middle School.
Maintaining affordable wristband prices – $8 for unlimited rides – and attractions as well as vendor fees and free spaces for area PTO’s were at the forefront of the moving the event, now entering its 13th year in San Tan Valley.
“The community gets to come together,” said Carrie Riberio, who has co-organized Polarfest with Netty Riggs for the past two years. “It’s the one winter festival that is consistent in San Tan Valley. Everybody looks forward to it and knows it’s coming.”
The J.O. Combs band, Anna and Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen (presented by Enchanted Entertainment), and Dancespot will highlight this year’s Polarfest performances.
Other attractions include a snow slide with seven tons of snow, real carnival rides, a rock wall, pony rides, hay rides, a petting zoo, Santa and his sleigh, and over 100 vendor booths. Photo opportunities with Santa will be available as well.
Representatives from Radical Reptiles, Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and AZ Care will be on hand to assist with animal adoptions.
Polarfest sponsors include but are not limited to J.O. Combs Unified School District, SRP, Southeast Valley Ledger, EV Business Magazine, and Carpet Cleaning, Inc. Interested sponsors are encouraged to visit www.polarfest.net.
