The Superior School Board is quietly preparing for the start of school with many appointments to coaching positions and recognizing two staff members for jobs well done.
Special awards were given to Melissa Perez, Food Service and William Duarte, Junior Senior High School Assistant Principal.
The Superior Unified School District Board Meeting was held on July 2, 2013 changed from the regular date and time because of the July 4 holiday. Regularly scheduled meetings resume Aug. 7, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy Elementary Auditorium.
Some of the many items discussed at the meeting were: request of approval for 2013-2014 proposed budget; minutes of June 5, 2013; expense vouchers #1397 thru 1403 totaling $82,141.71; payroll vouchers #29-30-31 totaling $82,675.21; May Auxiliary and Student Activity accounts. Reports were made on the following items: Administration; 2012-2013 student counts; request of approval of 2013-2014 handbooks including J.F.K. Student, Junior/Senior High Student and JFK Staff as well as the Junior/Senior High Staff; Athletic Department; Request approval of 2013-14 Superior High Course Catalogue/Cobre Valley Institute of Technology; Request approval of Pinal Gila Community Child Services Lease Amendment; Set the meeting date for Arizona School Board Association work study training.
Coaches for the coming year were named: High School Football Ryan Palmer; High School Assistant Football Luis Navarro; High School Head Varsity Volleyball Cheryl Lopez; JV Volleyball Dora Salcido; High Schools Spirit Line Terry Villaverde; J.H. Head Football Manuel Ortega; J.H. Head Volleyball – Senyssa Manriquez Beard (pending final Board approval); JR. Spirit Line April Juarez; Certified Substitute Mary Mary Jacqueline Florez Ball; Relief Aide Daisy Romero; Prep/Lunch Stipends Ryan Palmer and Terry Villaverde.
