Mike A. Jimenez, a native Arizonan, passed away June 2, 2013, in Las Vegas, from medical complications related to leukemia. He was 83 years old.
Born Miguel Armando Jiminez, in Superior, to Ignacio and Rosario Jimenez, Mike graduated from Superior High School in 1947 and worked in the mining industry at the Magma Copper Company for 34 years.
A respected, dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather, Mike was married to Carmen (Ward) for 64 years. As lifelong residents of Superior, Mike and Carmen raised eight children together.
A man who displayed and epitomized great strength, courage, pride and respect, Mike is survived by his wife, Carmen; his children Gloria (Robert), Michael, Barbara, Gilbert (Rebecca) and Tommy; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and sisters, Mary Lou Herrera and Alice Casillas. He was preceded in death by his children, Susan, Ricky and Joey.
A 9 am memorial service will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Superior on Sat., June 22, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
