Ysabel Tarin Martinez ‘Izzy’

  Ysabel Tarin Martinez “Izzy”, 87, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona.  Izzy, also known as Y.T., was born on May 6, 1929 in Sycamore Canyon to Divurcio Martinez and Antonia Tarin; he was raised by his stepfather Ramon Arevalos. 

  Y.T.  Married Julia G.  and started his family in Hayden, Arizona. Y.T. worked in underground mining for 5 years in Bisbee and Superior, he worked at Kennecott for over 30 years as a maintenance mechanic and then retired at age of 59 1/2, but during retirement He also worked as a maintenance man for the Kearny Clinic; he was also a Police Officer for 11 years in Hayden.

   Y.T. loved to golf and cookout, he was very fond of his nieces and nephews, he was the Little League president, Mayor of Hayden, Union President, was on a Board of Directors for a clinic, ASU fan, member of the Knights of Columbus as a Knight of the fourth degree and a big supporter of all his grandchildren.  Y.T. had many friends and was an active member of Saint Joseph Parish as a Eucharistic minister; he was also a professional boxer early on in his life. 

  He is preceded in death by his wife Julia G. and his son Robert Kenneth Martinez; his brother Challetano Martinez, and his two sisters Elena Chavez, Eleanor Varela, and his parents Ramon Arevalos and Antonia Tarin.

  He is survived by his brothers, Louie and Joe Arevalos; his children, Joseph (Suzanne) Martinez, Ysabel “Izzy” Martinez, Juanita (Mario) Martinez-Inzunza, Robert (Susana) Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez, David (Debbie) Martinez, and Chucky (Carmen) Martinez; 17 grandchildren,  20 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
