World Rabies Day Event Sept 28

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Florence- Saturday, September 28 is National World Rabies Day and Pinal County Animal Care & Control will be open from 8 AM to 5 PM with the day packed with activities. For the first time ever, all licensing jurisdictions will be in one place to provide one-stop licensing and vaccination.

“A lot of people don’t realize that Animal Control’s primary mission is to prevent the spread of rabies, which is deadly to animals and humans,” Dickson said. “Licensing your pet gives proof that it has a current vaccine. If there is no proof of vaccination and your dog bites someone and breaks the skin, we have to impound the animal at the owner’s expense until rabies is ruled out.”

If you are a resident of unincorporated Pinal County, your cat does not need to be licensed. Some cities and towns do require licenses for cats. Casa Grande and Eloy will be issuing licenses at Animal Care & Control from 8 AM to Noon. Coolidge and Apache Junction will be there all day. Animal Care & Control can issue licenses for the remaining cities and towns in Pinal County.

Pinal County licenses are priced as follows:
Unaltered Dog One Year- $30.00
Altered Dog One Year- $15.00
Altered Dog One Year Senior Owner (62 years or older)- $6.00
Altered Dog Three Year- $35.00
Altered Dog Three year Senior Owner (62 years or older)- $18.00

All licenses must be paid for with cash or check only.

In addition to the rabies vaccinations, a vet will be offering the following vaccinations:

Parvo/Distemper- $21.00
Bordetella- $10.00
Feline Four Way- $10.00
FELV- $25.00
FIP- $15.00

All vaccines must be paid for with cash only.

The shelter will have special adoption pricing for select cats and dogs. Microchipping of pets will be available at the reduced rate of $15.00. Microchips can be administered to pet dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits. For the safety of the vets and Animal Care & Control staff, feral/wild cats will not be vaccinated or microchipped.

It offers basics on pet ownership and the rights and responsibilities of a pet owner.
•    All Day Silent Auction – Volunteers will be offering items for auction with the proceeds being used to cover vet fees for animals that are sick or injured.
