Will Newman competes at Division III State High School Championships

Will Newman twice took the top spot on the podium at the Division 3 State Swimming Championships.

  The Division III State High School Championships were held in Paradise Valley, Arizona at the Phoenix Country Day School on Nov. 3 and 4, 2017.

  Local resident Will Newman competed in two events plus relays. In his first event, the 200 IM (Individual Medley), Will finished first with a record-breaking time of 1:54:58. He broke his own record from last year of 1:57:03. He also competed in the 100 backstroke and again finished first and broke the state division III record with a time of 51:33. He broke his own record of 53:13 from last year in this event. The Pusch Ridge 200 yard free style relay team (on which Will competed) took third place.

  Will is from San Manuel, Arizona but currently attends Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in Tucson, Arizona where he is a senior.
