The Fourth Annual Elks Dog Show was held on Saturday and was a fun time for all of the participants.

There were many raffle prizes given away that were donated by local merchants. Prizes provided by local merchants included gift certificates from Oracle Inn, Romo’s Mexican Restaurant, La Casita San Manuel, San Manuel Barber Shop, Mel’s, Jazz It Up Hair Salon, and Patio Café just to name a few. Tom Miller thanked the merchants for their donations and urged the crowd to support our local businesses.

People were able to purchase some delicious bratwurst and sauerkraut on a bun and hamburgers and fries.

Dog trainer Jay Smith gave a demonstration of rattlesnake avoidance training to the audience. He got their attention after pulling out two live rattlesnakes from a metal can carrier. The third snake he pulled out happened to be a realistic looking rubber snake which he tossed into the audience.

The winners of the many dog categories are listed below. Judges for the events were Laura Rice from Northwest Pet Clinic, John Stanford S.M. Elks Lodge, and Aaron Woods from the Haywire Band.
