Wayne Newman, former resident of San Manuel and graduate of San Manuel High School, will compete in the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held on Feb. 16-18, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He will race in the 60 meter hurdle prelims Saturday, Feb. 17, and if he qualifies for finals, he will compete Sunday, Feb. 18.

The USA Indoor Track and Field Championships is an annual indoor track and field competition organized by USA Track & Field, which serves as the American national championships for the sport. The championships serve as a way of selecting the best athletes for world competitions, as the top three finishers in each event will represent Team USA at the World Indoor Championships this year.

The USA Track and Field (USATF) Championship Series is a prestigious series of nationally televised USA Track & Field competitions featuring the very best track & field athletes from Team USA. It brings the speed, strength, excitement and fun of track and field directly to fans around the country. Perhaps most importantly, it gives American athletes the opportunity to compete against the world’s best, on home soil and in front of U.S. fans!

The event will be televised on NBCSN on Feb. 17, 5:30-7:30 ET and Feb. 18, 5:00-7:00 ET.

  Congratulations, Wayne!
